Come to The Strong National Museum of Play February 18th – May 20th 2012 to view my work. I will have pieces on display as part of the museums newest Whimsical Art Trail.

The exhibit opening will be on February 18th from 1-4 pm

I will be at the museum to answer questions and share about the process that brings my art to life.

When I heard about what happened to this family http://kellypack.com/ , my heart was broken. I found it too painful to try and imagine what they were going through. As my little girl was opening presents, my mind would drift back to them. At night when I am trying to fall asleep, I think of them and wish there was something I could do.

When Jaime at http://sewshesews.wordpress.com/ put together this fundraiser, I was so happy to be able to participate. Below you will find the items I am selling. I will be donating ALL of the proceeds, minus paypal fees and shipping charges.

I do not have an online store, so if you would like to purchase something, send me an email at sweetpeafelts@gmail.com. Things will be sold on a first come first served basis. Once I receive an email, I will send the buyer an invoice. You will have 24 hours to make a payment before I move on to the next person.

The peacock has been needle and wet felted, using merino wool. The stand has been needle felted using c-1 wool. This little friend stands 5″ tall in the stand.

Finger puppets are wonderful for open ended imaginative play.

Perfect for any fairy princess, these wands have been wet felted around a resist, using 100%merino wool. They are firmly stuffed with wool and embellished with tiny jingle bells and glass beads.

Each wand stands about 15.5″ tall

One project down, so many to go

The first day of the new year was a good one. I hope that is a sign of more good things to come. It was a day spent at home crafting with my youngest daughter. The kitchen was a mess when we were done, and I’m pretty sure the green on my fingers will be sticking with me awhile. When we were finished we had the most beautiful playsilks!

There are a ton of tutorials out there, just google playsilk tutorial. This project has been on my to-do list for longer than I would like to admit. Maybe it was my fear of the combination of dye and a four year old that was holding me back. Even though I had read about a number of people using food grade dyes, I was still a little skeptical.

The colors are beautiful, more vibrant than I had imagined. I am not sure how much the color will fade with washing, time will tell.

It feels really good to have finally tackled this project, and we can’t wait to make more! Riley and I spent the morning creating, and the afternoon playing.

Well, my to- do list is about a mile long, not the least of which is cleaning the the house. So of course, my obsession this weekend has been to work on this hand puppet. This is the first time I have made one, so I have been figuring out as I go.

I have used c-1 wool for the body, superfine merino for the face, and glass beads for the eyes. This morning I have been playing around with adding some texture to the wings and tail feathers.

So far I have used felted wool, a piece of nuno felt, and some needle felting. Now on to my next dilemma, beads or no beads ?

Hearts and Crafts, and some gratitude

I am so excited to share with everyone that I have been accepted into the Hearts and Crafts market, http://heartsandcraftsmarket.wordpress.com/ Sunday, December 11th! I am counting the days, and cooking up some new projects.

My acceptance into this show has caused me to think about the people who helped get me to this place. I am truly blessed to have wonderful family and friends, who believe in me and my art.

I have decided to spend my time this week making some thank you gifts,

and I must admit that I have fallen in love with this little pom pom robin ornament. I see a lot more of these in my future!

Mayday Underground
