About

My name is Amy Brand, I am from upstate NY and am the artist behind Sweet Pea Felts. In addition to creating my soft sculptures, I also teach felting classes and provide demos locally.
In the spring of 2012, my work was exhibited at The Strong, national museum of play as part of their Whimsical Art Trail. On most days you can find me in my studio, needle felting a tiny world I wish I could live in.

Thank you for stopping by!

Warmly, Amy

  1. HI there
Rachel Clark thought you might be interested in joining in on my sale this September. Here is some basic information and a link to the event. Please let me know if you would like to join in on this craziness!

This email is in regards to the The Purple Painted Lady Barn Sale & Junk Jubilee. We hosted a successful sale last year- and now we are looking to make this years bigger & better!

It has been a while since the September 2011 Purple Painted Lady Barn Sale. Since that time….I opened my “brick and mortar” store, been blogging for herRochester (Democrat & Chronicle) and became a distributor of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint (TM). (and finally added my funky cupola to my barn!) I am beginning to plan THE barn sale that will happen on 9/22 and wanted to share the news with you. The barn sale takes place at my home the sits on 20 acres. Most of the event is held outside- which can be a gamble in upstate NY. However- I am going to be checking out a ballroom tent that we may have set up.

The plans are to have at least 40 artists compared to the 20 we had last year. I am working on having a band and concessions also. As for advertising…. I am currently hovering around 2000 Facebook followers and receive about 13,000 hits to my website weekly. I will be promoting the event and requesting all of you who join in – help by sharing the Barn Sale information via Facebook pages, websites, and other avenues that you can think of.

To help in some of the expense….I am requesting a minimal $30 fee to help and if possible- would ask that you donate something small for the raffle – perhaps an item worth $50. I painted murals for a few of the RNEWS camera guys this past year and believe we may be able to have “free” coverage of the event through channel 14. We will also choose a charity to support through the Barn Sale…so if you plan on participating..think of one you would like to suggest. (last year it was the humane society)

There will be a short Barn Sale pre-meeting sometime over the summer – which if you plan on attending the sale- I really request that you attend. We will review barn sale details and choose booth locations. I think the sale went really well last year and whoever was in charge of the weather needs to do that again- because it was amazing! This year- I would like it to go even smoother. For example- we will have a schedule for setting up the morning of – so that those who are the furthest in- set up first as so to not have their cars blocking the drive. The horse stable/farmer across the street who owns 190 acres will be allowing cars to park there. What does this mean? More room for vendors!!!! We may have valet parking available too!

Something a little different will be a demo/feature stage- so we can host various demos and guest speakers. I am also looking to showcase some of our incredible New York State celebrities…I mean bloggers and women news reporters. : ) The raffles will happen through out the day too versus at the end. If you would like to do a demo or be a guest speaker- please note that with your response below.

So…if you are interested in participating again – please respond back to me. And if you have friends who might be interested – please forward on this note. If in case, you would prefer to not be included – let me know also so I can remove you from this email list. : )

Could you please email me the following:

    1. Your business name that you would like me to advertise you as. (if you don’t have a name- call yourself/business whatever you would like)
    2. Your website, blog or Facebook link? (Do you have a button? If yes- send the code)
    3. A brief description of the items you will have available for sale.
    4. A couple photos of pieces that represent items that you would have available at the Barn Sale for me to include in my advertising. Think MERCHANDISING when taking photos…. make sure to place your piece outside on a chair or on something fancy. (This does help with selling!!!!)
    5. Your personal contact information for my reference only.
    6. Interested in doing a demo or being a guest speaker? Explain what your demo or topic will be.

Thanks and hope to hear back from you.

  2. Hi Amy, My friend Peggy Z. loves your mice and posted them on Facebook today. I inquired if you hold classes. We live in Rochester, my daughter and I and would LOVE to attend a class of yours!

  3. I just recently found your Facebook page through a friend of mine. I see you are based out of New York. I see that you have tutorials here, but was wondering for us folks that don’t live in New York, how could someone purchase your work?? Also, can a person make a request? Oh, and I truly fell in love with the purple owl and the butterfly. I absolutely love butterflies.
    Thank you for your time.
